'Beautiful Soul:' Lehigh Valley Native, Beloved Jersey Shore Fisherman Bill Karp Jr. Dies, 41

Born in Fountain Hill, Bill attended the Saucon Valley School District, where he was a football and track and field letterman before graduating in 1999, his obituary says.

He went to Moravian College and has always loved fishing and boating, as well as hunting. He was a big fan of the San Francisco 49ers and Penn State.

Bill lived in Hellertown before moving to Point Pleasant, where he lived at the time of his passing, his memorial says.

Above all, Bill was known for his compassionate soul and caring nature that was always ready to lend a hand.

“He will fondly be remembered for his generosity to his family and friends,” reads his obituary.

Bill is survived by his loving sister, Heather A. (R.J.) Calabrese; grandmother: Shirley M. “Mang” (Mundy) Furchner; nephews, Grant, Carter and Landon Goldan; best friends, Drew (Melissa) Bramley and his son Chase, Pat Lane; several uncles, aunts and cousins; his beloved English Bulldog, Gilligan, and many more.

Bill’s funeral was held at the Connell Funeral Home in Bethlehem on Saturday, Dec. 10.

“The world lost an amazing person, a beautiful soul,” writes Melanie Mackie in one of the numerous tributes that poured into Facebook following Bill’s passing. “Bill Karp I am so grateful to have had you in my life…You were a true friend that was there for anyone in need.”
